Yahoo! Secures Distribution on Micron Electronics PCs

 

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - April 6, 1999 - Yahoo! Inc. (Nasdaq:YHOO) today announced a distribution agreement with Micron Electronics, Inc. (Nasdaq: MUEI), a leading direct manufacturer of high-performance personal computers. Under the agreement, Micron’s Millennia PCs will feature Internet services offered by Yahoo!. The Micron™ Millennia® PCs are customized to display both Yahoo!’s Web directory capabilities and personalized Web pages (mu.my.yahoo.com).

The new Micron Millennia PCs feature a co-branded Micron My Yahoo! start page, enabling users to fully personalize their Web experience with updated national news, sports and financial information, local weather reports and more. The Micron My Yahoo! start page also includes a customized area for Micron Millennia PC owners to access proprietary content from Micron Electronics such as news, information about new products, and online customer support services.

The co-branded Micron My Yahoo! start page, additionally, links to Yahoo!’s small business services, Yahoo! Connected Office. Through Yahoo! Connected Office, users can easily post messages and share calendars with co-workers; hold virtual meetings; establish instant messaging to communicate in real time with colleagues; and, create custom views of Yahoo! with news, editorial, and competitive tracking.

Personalize the Web with My Yahoo!

The Micron Millennia PCs feature a desktop Yahoo! icon connecting users to Yahoo!. Additionally, the Micron Millennia PCs are bundled with a standard default Internet browser that, when activated, connects users to the co-branded Micron My Yahoo! start page. This functionality enables users to immediately personalize their Web experience.

As a registered My Yahoo! user, the entire suite of Yahoo!’s 13 free member services is available to Micron customers including shopping, auctions, classifieds, travel reservations and ticket purchases, chat, clubs, address book, instant messaging, message boards, and games. Portfolios, community tools, financial market news and investment research drawn from Yahoo! Finance are also personalized through the Micron My Yahoo! start page. Additionally, free Yahoo! Mail alerts users to the receipt of new email on their Micron My Yahoo! start page.
