Business Internet Introduces
Leading Edge E-mail Service
Beltsville, MD (1/25/99) - Intermedia Communications (NASDAQ:
ICIX) announced today the release of Intermedia Messenger Mail, a fully integrated,
scaleable e-mail service that allows organizations of any size to enjoy the benefits of a
high-performance e-mail system. Intermedia Messenger Mail is the first tool in a product
suite of messaging applications that will also include Fax and Voice application services.
Available through Intermedia Business Internet (formerly DIGEX Business Internet
Solutions), Intermedia Messenger Mail provides a powerful and cost-effective alternative
to typical in-house e-mail messaging systems, which often require a significant capital
investment and dedicated system management staff. Intermedia Messenger Mail eliminates the
need for such an investment by offering a complete, turnkey e-mail infrastructure in one
convenient service. As important, Intermedia Messenger Mail allows companies to scale this
service to meet their specific volume needs. Because Messenger Mail is an
"on-demand" infrastructure that lets customers "grow as they go,"
companies can order as many or as few mailboxes as they need at the time.
Other benefits of Intermedia Messenger Mail include:
- Provision for user/system specific domain names and e-mail addresses
- Web-based account administration
- Quicker deployment and expansion of e-mail service
- No obsolescence risk
- No upgrade or migration issues
- Direct access to customer support resources and technical expertise
- Business Class features such as user created and managed distribution lists,
non-delivery notification; vacation messages and mail forwarding
- 5MB of storage per address, with messages relayed up to 50MB
- Support for leading e-mail clients including Eudora, Netscape Mail, Outlook and Outlook
Express, Pegasus, and Claris E-mail
Intermedia Messenger Mail's web-based account administration functions provide company
administrators with unparalleled flexibility in managing their Messenger Mail account.
This includes the ability to add, delete, or change users; change passwords; create and
manage distribution lists; modify user settings; and view key statistics such as disk
space usage per mailbox or bandwidth consumption by mailing list.
According to Nancy Watters, senior director, IP Product Management, "With
Intermedia Messenger Mail, we provide our customers the look and functionality of a
dedicated e-mail system at significant savings over managing an e-mail infrastructure
in-house. In addition, Messenger Mail delivers outstanding flexibility in both its
features and with its Web-based account administration, all backed by the expertise and
support of Intermedia Business Internet."
