Ascend Communications and Lucent Technologies Receive
Merger Clearance From DOJ
MURRAY HILL, N.J., April 12, 1999Lucent
Technologies (NYSE:LU) and Ascend Communications (NASDAQ:ASND) said they have received
antitrust clearance for their proposed merger from both the U.S. Department of Justice
(DOJ) and the European Commission.
The merger, which was announced on Jan. 13, is expected to be completed in the quarter
ending June 30, pending the approval of Ascend shareowners.
Lucent Technologies, headquartered in Murray Hill, N.J., USA, designs, builds and
