GTE Selects FORE Systems As "Best In
Class" Supplier For End-To-End Data Networking Solutions
Pittsburgh, PA - April 20, 1999 - FORE Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: FORE), a leading
global supplier of advanced networking solutions, announced today that it has been
selected by GTE as a "Best in Class" supplier for end-to-end data networking
solutions for 1998. The award was given at GTE's "Suppliers of Excellence"
ceremonies, which is held annually as part of GTE's Partners in Quality program.
"Through GTE's Partners in Quality evaluation process, we ensure a top-level
quality commitment and open, two-way communication between our company and our
suppliers," said Larry Henry, vice president and general manager-GTE Supply.
"Our Suppliers of Excellence awards recognize those suppliers who consistently help
us meet our competitive challenges and provide us with outstanding value."
GTE evaluates its suppliers on their ability to deliver on time, provide competitive
prices and superior value, offer high quality customer service, and provide top-quality
products and services. Using these criteria, 60 "Suppliers of Excellence" were
identified from more than a thousand suppliers worldwide who provide products and services
to GTE, and from this list, 10 were selected as "Best in Class."
"We strive to create a sense of teamwork and continuous improvement between GTE
and its suppliers," added Henry. "Strong supply-chain management relationships
enable us to meet our customers expectations and thrive in today's ever-changing
telecommunications environment."
"GTE is a very important partner for us. They have been instrumental in our
achieving a significant presence in large enterprise and emerging IP service provider
networks," added Joe Pajer, vice president of marketing for FORE's Network Systems
Business Unit. "We sincerely appreciate GTE's recognition that FORE's products,
training and programs are best in class, and that FORE is one of GTE's top channel
partners."
