Analog Devices Captures
ISSCC Awards During
1999 Conference

Norwood, MA (March 17, 1999) - Analog Devices, Inc. today announced the receipt of two awards from the International Solid-State Circuit Conference (ISSCC) in San Francisco, CA for significant achievements in technical presentations.

The 1998 Lewis Winner award for the Outstanding Paper was given to Audio Engineering Society Fellow Robert Adams, Khiem Nguyen and Karl Sweetland for their paper entitled, "A 113 dB SNR Oversampling DAC with Segmented Noise-Shaped Scrambling". This paper discusses the AD1853 sigma-delta digital-to-analog converter (DAC) for compact disks and digital versatile disk (DVD) application. This technological breakthrough has enabled high-performance applications, including DVD players and car audio systems, by offering professional performance at consumer prices.

The second award was for the "1997 Journal for Solid State Circuit" Best Paper award, and was accepted by David Robertson and Todd Brooks for their paper on "A Cascaded Sigma-Delta Pipeline A/D Converter with 1.25 MHz Signal Bandwidth and 89 dB SNR". This paper was published in the December, 1997 issue of the "Journal of Solid State Circuits" and explains the circuit technology used in the AD9260 analog-to-digital converter (ADC); the AD9260 is used in a variety of high-speed, high-resolution applications including broadband data transmission over telephone cables.
