Oracle Scores in Corporate Software Market with Key
Second Quarter Deals

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., Dec. 11,1998— As the world’s leading provider of software for mission critical business applications, Oracle Corp. today announced strategic deals with world-class companies in the second quarter of its fiscal year ending November 30, 1998. Oracle's Internet-enabled solutions, including applications, database and development tools, allow Oracle customers to deploy cost-effective systems that deliver up-to-the-minute information for making critical business decisions.

Companies that signed major deals with Oracle in the second quarter of this year include AMCORE Financial Inc., AnnTaylor Inc., Autodesk, Blue Shield of California, BMC West, The Boeing Company Shared Services Group, Citicorp, Colgate Palmolive, Coors Brewing Company, First USA, Friede Goldman International Inc., Hughes Space and Communications, Lycos, Principal Financial Group, Quantum Corporation, and Scottish Power (Scotland).

Oracle’s Internet computing model offers significant advantages to its customers, enabling them to meet strategic business objectives and strengthen their competitive advantage. Aerospace and defense giant Hughes Space and Communications (HSC), the world’s leading manufacturer of advanced satellites, selected the Oracle(r) database and Oracle Financials(r) and Oracle Manufacturing Applications because of the Oracle products’ ability to deliver an accurate and timely picture of HSC’s business operations.

"The extensive functionality and flexibility of the Oracle Financials Application software will enable HSC to monitor, retrieve, and analyze the specific costs associated with each satellite we build for our customers, at any time during the build cycle," said Radha Radhakrishnian, chief information officer for HSC. "This will offer HSC a key competitive advantage as we move into the 21st century."

Oracle Corporation is the world's leading supplier of software for information management, and the world's second largest independent software company. With annual revenues of more than $8.0 billion, the company offers its database, tools and application products, along with related consulting, education, and support services, in more than 145 countries around the world.
