PC Magazine Names Compaq
Deskpro EN Series "Best of '98"

Desktop Computer of Choice for the Enterprise

HOUSTON, December 15, 1998 - Capping off a year in which Deskpro computers received some of the most prestigious awards from every major industry publication, Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ) announced today its Deskpro EN Series 450 Model received PC Magazine's "Best of '98" award in the corporate PC category. The Deskpro EN Series family of PCs was commended for such features as DMI 2.0 compliance, chassis intrusion detection, and full system hardware monitoring, which allows network managers to detect error or imminent failure of key components such as the hard disk drive or memory.

The "Best of '98" award is based on feedback from PC Magazine's key writers and columnists, who select their personal favorites from products shipped in 1998.

Compaq's Deskpro EN Series is designed for enterprise customers who seek a combination of comprehensive manageability, easy serviceability and life-cycle consistency in their client PCs.

Available in desktop, minitower or small form factor, the line offers a full range of Intel Pentium II and Celeron processors, SMART Ultra ATA hard drives up to 14.4 GB, 32X Max CD-ROM drives (on select models), and the ATI RAGE PRO TURBO AGP graphics card.
